Grants of up to $50,000 to Illinois nonprofit and charitable organizations for programs that benefit underserved populations. Funding is intended for activities within the focus areas of education, health, and human services. Grants support programming and operating support, with preference given to organizations or programs that approach their mission from an entrepreneurial perspective. Special consideration is also given to organizations that help individuals meet their basic needs as well as their spiritual needs.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Organizations may apply for grants of $10,000 up to $50,000. For program support, the request may not be more than 30% of the program’s budget.

Term of Contract:

The majority of grants from the Hendrickson Family Foundation are one year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Illinois nonprofit organizations are eligible. Applying organizations should have budgets of $10 million or less.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong connection with the Carl R. Hendrickson Family Foundation’s entrepreneurial spirit.

In general, grant requests for individuals, endowment campaigns, capital projects or scholarships will not be considered.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for application to the Carl R. Hendrickson Family Foundation is July 31. Grant decisions will be made by mid-November.

Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the application deadline date falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, the deadline is not extended. Therefore, applications must be submitted on the prior business day by 11:59 p.m.

Organizations may only submit 1 application to 1 of the following foundations within the same calendar year:
- Alfred Bersted Foundation
- Grace Bersted Foundation
- Henrietta Lange Burke Fund
- Carl R. Hendrickson Family Foundation
- Colonel R. Stanley McNeil Foundation
