Grants of up to $20,00 per year to USA universities for student research projects that take place in Latin America. Applicants must complete an online registration process prior to submitting an application. Eligible universities must have a Latin American Studies center, or equivalent.
Tinker is launching the Collaborative to connect Centers committed to working together to enhance the impact of the student field research experience. Successful applicants to the Collaborative will receive field research grant funding for their Centers for a five-year period and have access to network-building and knowledge exchange.
When created, the stated program objectives were:
The program offers students an opportunity to acquire a deeper knowledge of language and culture; to familiarize themselves with information sources relevant to their studies; to conduct pilot studies and preliminary investigations that will inform their dissertation proposals or theses; and to develop contacts with scholars and institutions in their fields of study.

Between $10,000 and $20,000 per year. Each final award amount will be determined during the application and selection process in consultation with applicants.
Five years, if annual reporting and expenditure requirements are met each year.
