Grants to West Central Illinois nonprofit organizations and government agencies to benefit-eligible communities. Applicants may be required to submit a pre-application before being approved to submit a full application. Eligible counties are Brown, Adams, Cass, McDonough, Greene, Hancock, Morgan, Pike, Schuyler, and Scott.

Formal Funding grant requests should target education, economic development, leadership, or youth and families.

Capacity Building grants are intended to increase organizational effectiveness. The Foundation will consider requests that are targeted at such areas as strategic planning, board development, leadership training, etc.

Brown County Teacher Fund requests will be considered if they address improvements needed and identified by the school’s Instructional Leadership Team.

Estimated Size of Grant:

There is no cap on the maximum amount an agency can request within the Formal Funding and Brown County T.E.A.C.H.E.R. Fund grant programs.

The maximum dollar request for a Capacity Building Grant is $5,000. In addition (for Capacity Building grants only), your organization must contribute a minimum of 25% Cash of the requested amount.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Tracy Family Foundation provides grants to government units and public charities that have tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS. Within each of the grant programs, there are specified, eligible applicants. The Foundation does not award grants to individuals.

Eligible applicants
- Brown County T.E.A.C.H.E.R. Fund: Teachers & Administrators at Pre-K – Grade 12 Schools in Mt. Sterling, Illinois
- Capacity Building: Nonprofit organizations that 1) are located in TFF’s funding Region in Illinois and are aligned with Dot Foods or TFF Focus Areas or 2) have received a TFF Formal Funding grant.
- Formal Funding: Qualified organizations located in the following Illinois counties: Adams, Brown, Cass, Greene, Hancock, McDonough, Morgan, Pike, Schuyler, and Scott. Tracy family members living outside these counties may issue a very limited number of invitations to organizations in their communities.

Staff salary is not an expense that will be funded by the Foundation for Capacity Building grants.

Pre-Application Information:

Pre-applications are required for both the Brown County T.E.A.C.H.E.R. Fund and for Formal Funding. After TFF staff have reviewed an organization’s Pre-Application, organizations will be notified via email whether they are invited to submit a Formal Grant Application. Formal Grant Applications cannot be submitted without Pre-Application approval.

Capacity Building applications can be submitted directly and do not require a pre-application. Capacity Building Grants may be submitted at any time during the calendar year.

Organizations should schedule a grant consultation appointment with TFF Program Manager, Terry Jenkins, at least two weeks before their Formal Grant Application is due. Organizations must submit a draft of their Formal Grant Application to Terry a minimum of 72 hours prior to their grant consultation appointment. Grant consultations will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

For Capacity Building grants your organization must contribute a minimum of 25% cash of the requested amount.
